Cal Camp 2007-2008:
For my internship, I was a counselor at Cal Recreational Sports Camp for the summers of 2007 and 2008. I helped run an ultimate frisbee class as well as a soccer class for the summer of 2007. I worked for 10 weeks. For the summer of 2008, I was a counselor for children ages 6-8 and stayed with the same group of children (10-15 children per group) throughout the duration of 2 weeks (1 session). I worked for 4 weeks. The camp was from 8AM-4:30PM Monday thru Thursday.
I enjoyed working for the camp very much. It was challenging to say the least, but well worth it. The children were great and I learned a lot about not only dealing with children ranging from ages 6-13, but I also learned a great deal about teaching a class. Over the course of two summers, this internship has helped me mature a lot. I know how to talk with parents, make it through an 8 hour day, and keep my problems outside of work. Keeping a happy attitude is what helped me make it through the day...
I now have a job for as long as I can go back to camp, which will be a good job for when i come home every summer from college.
I made friends and memories that I will treasure forever.
